The completely new rear-wheel-drive architecture of the explorer contributes to the fact that it is a more capable pulling machine independent of the engine. Vehicles with a 3.0 liter V6 EcoBoost and towing package can drive up to 5.600 pounds, while a 2.3-liter EcoBoost and a towing package can pull up to 5,300 pounds.
