2018-2017 Volkswagen Atlas R-Line Information about interior exterior design presentation videos and detailed vehicle features
"In case if Volkswagen's new large SUV wasn't appealing to you, VW announced R-Line package for Atlas. 2018 Atlas R-Line will be equipped with more aggressive design elements, and some minor changes for the interior. No changes to the performance are expected. Below is the official press release, and we will update it with more detailed one as North American International Auto Show opens its doors in Detroit this month:" Ed.
Volkswagen of America, Inc. announced today that it will offer the R-Line package on the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas. The new trim package augments the Chattanooga-built SUV’s sportiness with exterior and interior design elements that give it an even more dynamic appearance. The Atlas R-Line will be introduced at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The R-Line package enhances the robust list of equipment in the Atlas SE and SEL trims—offering a full suite of connected vehicle services and driver assistance features—with performance-inspired treatments. The exterior styling details include 20-inch aluminum-alloy twin-spoke wheels; R-Line badging; unique front and rear bumpers that incorporate stylish air intakes at the front and a diffusor in glossy black paint at the rear; and side skirts.
Inside, the Atlas R-Line welcomes drivers with the R-Line logo on the start screen of Volkswagen’s Modular Infotainment Platform (MIB II). Other interior features include an R-Line steering wheel clip and stainless-steel sport pedal covers.
Like the standard Atlas model, the R-Line will be available in two engine options: a four-cylinder TSI® turbo with 235 horsepower or a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 276 horsepower. Both come standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Volkswagen’s advanced 4Motion® all-wheel-drive system is available on V6 engined models.
The Atlas models will go on sale in the Spring of 2017, with the R-Line package going on sale later in the year.
2018 Kia Stinger - interior Exterior and Drive (Great Sedan) Detailed information about interior and exterior design introductory videos and vehicle features
2018 Kia Stinger: A RWD Sports Sedan Aimed Straight for the Germans
Up to 365 horsepower, rear-wheel drive.
We can’t say that we weren’t forewarned. Kia has been dropping broad hints about its plan to produce a rear-wheel-drive sedan for years. The original GT concept was shown at the Frankfurt auto show as long ago as 2011, with the Stinger GT4 building on it at the 2014 Detroit show. Now the wait is finally over as the company has unveiled the production version of its forthcoming sports sedan, which adopts the Stinger name.
Don’t confuse it with the K900. The Stinger is a much sleeker and sportier proposition than its staid big sister, and it has a low, coupelike roofline. Power will come from two engines, with the range-topping 365-hp turbo 3.3-liter V-6 making that version the most powerful roadgoing Kia yet; a 255-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder will serve as the entry-level engine. The Stinger gets an eight-speed automatic transmission, with buyers able to choose between rear- and all-wheel drive. Kia says it is targeting a 5.1-second zero-to-62-mph time and a 167-mph top speed for the 3.3-liter. There also will be a diesel version for Europe, but there are no plans to bring it to the States.
The design certainly is aggressive; it is the work of Kia’s European design studio in Frankfurt. Up front, there’s the brand’s familiar “tiger nose” grille, but behind that, the low stance and muscular proportions effectively distinguish the Stinger from anything else the company has produced. Buyers will be able to have fun by getting their buddies to guess the brand of their new car when seen in profile. There’s something distinctly Alfa Romeo–ish about the rear end’s small, high-mounted taillights as well as the quad tailpipes on the V-6 GT model. LED lighting is standard front and rear.
Although it’s being pitched as a rival to existing compact sports sedans, the Stinger is bigger than any of the cars Kia cites as competitors. At 190.2 inches in length, it’s 4.1 inches longer than the Audi A4 and 5.7 inches longer than the Mercedes-Benz C-class, while the Stinger’s 114.4-inch wheelbase is also longer than any of its rivals. The Kia’s roofline is lower, though, and its overall height of just 55.1 inches makes it 0.2 inch shorter than a C-class coupe. Kia says that the Stinger is a coupe-sedan, which ties into design boss Peter Schreyer’s assertion that he sees the conventional two-door coupe as being of such little interest to buyers that the company probably will never build one. Inside, the conservatively styled if smart-looking cabin features an 8.0-inch central touchscreen and a TFT information screen sitting between the instruments. The company also claims class-leading rear legroom thanks to that long wheelbase. The twin-turbocharged V-6 is Hyundai’s direct-injected aluminum Lambda II unit and is basically the same engine found in the Genesis G90, generating its peak 365 ponies at 6000 rpm and accompanying that with 376 lb-ft of torque that’s available from 1300 rpm. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is effectively a longitudinal version of the unit Hyundai and Kia use in their front-wheel-drive-based vehicles, but it’s also related to the engine fitted in the first-gen Hyundai Genesis coupe. The peak of 255 horsepower arrives at 6200 rpm, with 260 lb-ft of torque spread across a plateau from 1400 to 4000 rpm. The only transmission is a development of the K900’s automatic and uses a tuned-mass damper on the flywheel to help reduce torsional vibration through the drivetrain. The optional all-wheel-drive system features torque vectoring, while the rear-drive version has a standard limited-slip differential.
The Stinger is constructed from mostly conventional materials, with Kia saying the chassis uses 55 percent high-strength steel. We haven’t been given any weight numbers yet, but we’re promised that they will be competitive. There is a strut suspension setup at the front and a multilink setup at the rear. The four-cylinder car sits on 18-inch wheels as standard; the V-6–powered GT gets 19s as well as upgraded Brembo brakes, including four-piston front calipers and vented discs all around. Adaptive dampers will be offered—a first for Kia—and they’ll be selectable alongside other driving functions through five dynamic settings: Eco, Sport, Comfort, Smart, and Personal.
Much of the chassis development was carried out in Europe, led by Hyundai-Kia’s chief handling engineer, Albert Biermann, who formerly headed BMW’s M division. We’re told that the car has been extensively tested at the NĂĽrburgring Nordschleife. Biermann previously told us that we should see it as a genuine rival to performance derivatives of the German compacts, a promise we look forward to testing as soon as possible.
New Toyota Concept-i Fantastic Car interior and Exterior design videos Good afternoon, everyone! I am so happy to welcome you to the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show.
But before I begin to tell you about what we have at the show this year I'd like to acknowledge and welcome Tomoyama-san, Sr. Managing Officer, TMC. Thank you, Tomoyama-san for joining us today.
Now, I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t share our 2016 sales results:
The industry ended with a best-ever December and best year with 17.5 M sales, exceeding 2015 and the 7th consecutive year of growth. Notably we've seen the car-truck mix move from 50/50 to 37/63 over the past three years, demonstrating the shift to SUVs and trucks is real. Toyota Motor Sales sold 2.45M vehicles in 2016.The Toyota brand was the #1 retail brand for the 5th consecutive year and, for the 15th consecutive year, the Camry was the no. 1 selling vehicle in America.
Lexus had its 2nd best year in its 27-year history.
OK, let’s get to it. Toyota has an amazing floor display this year that we are really proud of. You’re going to get a first look at Entune 3.0, our next-generation telematics system. We’re also showing off Smart Device Link. It’s a platform for app developers to connect smartphones with vehicles. I encourage every one of you to stop by and have a look.
But today, we’re going to do something a bit different. We’re going to introduce you to a really special concept vehicle. And why is it so special? Because with all the talk about advances in automobile technology, it’s easy to lose sight of why we make cars in the first place. They’re for people. And at Toyota, we think the important question isn’t whether vehicles of the future will be equipped with automated or connected technologies. Of course they will. The important question is this: what will be the relationship between those vehicles and the people who use them?
Will it be cold? Robotic? Sterile? Tool-like? Technology on wheels and nothing more? Or will it be warm and friendly? Engaging? Immersive?
Because cars have always done more than just get us from point A to point B. They are our home on wheels. We connect with them. We build an emotional relationship. And thanks to our research into advanced artificial intelligence, we think that the future of the automobile is a vehicle that can connect with us right back.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is my pleasure to introduce you to the advanced artificial intelligence system we call “Yui.”
2017 Mazda 3 Interior and exterior design overview 2017 Mazda 3: Sharper, Crisper, Cleaner A few midlife tweaks for Mazda's well-rounded compact.
The well-rounded Mazda 3 compact is being freshened for 2017. The relatively mild updates to the U.S. model, which were previously announced for the global version of the car, include tweaked exterior styling, some new interior bits, updated active-safety features, and the addition of Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control system for improved steering response.
That doesn’t sound like much, but the 3 didn’t need much improvement—in its current form, it has earned a spot on our 10Best Cars list for the past three years. Nonetheless, the changes for 2017 are welcome, especially the revised exterior that nicely sharpens the 3’s look. The reshaped grille and headlights present a slightly more aggressive face to the world, and LED headlights are newly available on higher-trim models. A new rear bumper appears a bit cleaner and crisper than before, at least on the pictured hatchback model (Mazda has yet to release photos of the U.S.-spec 2017 sedan).
The 18-inch wheels available on the 3’s s trim also are slightly different, although the 16-inch wheels and hubcaps on lower-spec i versions remain the same. Two new colors are available: Machine Gray Metallic joins the palette, while Eternal Blue Mica replaces the previous Blue Reflex Mica.
Interior revisions are a bit more noteworthy, with the 3 adopting a steering wheel similar to that in the new CX-9 crossover, an electric parking brake that frees up center-console storage space, and some nicer trim for the door panels. The optional head-up display is now full color rather than monochromatic, and the door pockets are said to be much larger than before. A heated steering wheel is a new option, while upholstery upgrades include nicer fabric for the standard cloth interior, new espresso-colored accents for the optional black leather interior, and parchment-colored leather replacing the previous almond shade. Mind you, this is in a car we’ve already adjudged to have the best interior available for under $30,000.
As for the 3’s mechanicals, the most significant addition is Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control, a new steering system that reduces torque when entering a corner to increase the responsiveness of the steering rack. We sampled this system on a Mazda 6 test mule and found the results to be subtle but effective. To combat relatively high levels of road noise—one of our few complaints about the 3—Mazda said it has revised the dampers and sound insulation for a quieter overall ride.
There are no engine changes. The 2017 Mazda 3’s two engine choices remain a 155-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder on 3 i models and a 184-hp 2.5-liter inline-four on 3 s models. As before, either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission is available regardless of engine choice, something that can’t be said about many of the 3’s competitors, which limit manual-transmission availability to the basement models.
A suite of active-safety features remains on the options list: forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring. A new camera is now part of the package, which Mazda says expands the speed range at which pedestrians can be detected for the automated emergency-braking system. Cars equipped with the i-Activsense package can now also recognize road signs.
More nitty-gritty information on the 2017 Mazda 3, including pricing and official EPA mileage numbers, should be released soon. The 2017 model is scheduled to go on sale in September. We don’t expect much of an increase from the current 3’s starting prices of $18,680 for the sedan and $19,380 for the hatchback.
