First 2020 BMW X3 M and which is under the hood of the 2020 BMW X4 M BMW M S58 new six-cylinder inline engine has a crankshaft that allows forging extremely high torque levels.
The low weight of the forged crankshaft and the reduced rotating mass also allow the engine to turn to 7,200 rpm. The closed deck design of the six-cylinder engine block makes it incredibly robust by opening the way for
high combustion pressure and increased power. The iron coating on the wire for the cylinder walls reduces both the weight of the motor and the friction losses. In addition, the cylinder head has a core produced using 3D printing. This additional manufacturing process enables the creation of geometric forms beyond the capacity of conventional metal casting techniques.
Cooling systems and oil supply developed from motor sports.
The new six-cylinder inline engine tested pallet cooling system is designed to operate at higher performance levels and two small radiators disposed on both sides of a large central radiator. The system also includes an additional engine oil cooler and a separate transmission oil cooler. This sophisticated system ensures that optimum operating temperatures are maintained at all times during daily trips and road use.
Combined with BMW M GmbH, the competitiveness of motor sports makes the presence of the oil supply system necessary to meet the challenges of track driving. The engine's light oil pan has two separate chambers and an integrated suction channel. An additional suction stage allows the map-controlled oil pump to draw oil from the small chamber that is activated when additional flow is required. This ensures a reliable oil supply at all times, even under extreme lateral and longitudinal acceleration and braking forces.

Overall evaluation: Good Recent crash tests reveal potential safety issues with Tesla Model S
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety decided to put four all-electric and hybrid electric vehicles to the test for safety.
Compared with the 2017 Prius Prime and the 2017 Chevy Volt, the BMW i3 and the Tesla Model S weren't just safe enough to merit a "Top Pick +" by the IIHS.
The organization also assessed the vehicles' front-crash avoidance abilities; and their headlights.
The IIHS tested Model S vehicles built after October 2016 and according to its test results, the Model S fell short of the highest safety rating in a few key areas.
First, the driver's side seat belt didn't adequately restrain the occupant in a front overlap crash, causing the dummy's head to hit the steering wheel.
Secondly, the roof of the Model S P100D that was tested wasn't strong enough to ensure safety in a rollover, due to the car's weight. The Model S earned an "acceptable" rating in these two categories.
Lastly, the organization gave the 2017 Model S a poor rating for its headlights.
In a statement to Business Insider, a Tesla spokesperson said that the company is already working to fix the issues and that it's "committed to making the world's safest cars."
"We proactively develop updates and aggressively implement changes onto the production line in record time any time there is a substantial benefit to customer safety.
One of the improvements recently introduced in January 2017 specifically addresses the “Acceptable” (or second-highest) rating that the Model S achieved in the small overlap frontal crash test, and we expect new tests to yield the highest possible rating (“Good” rating) in the crashworthiness category," the spokesperson said.
It's worth noting that Tesla's Model S has received a 5-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, as well as the highest safety rating from the European New Car Assesment Program.
The BMW i3 also had a problem in the small frontal overlap crash scenario: the vehicles couldn't fully protect passengers in the rear seats.
The Chevy Volt and the Prius Prime plug-in both scored higher on the IIHS's tests.

2017 BMW 7 Series Interior design features videos Intuitive operation with touch display and BMW gesture control.
In the new BMW 7 Series the iDrive operating system’s monitor comes in touch display form for the first time. This means customers will also be able to operate the system in the same way as modern electronic devices. In addition to using the Controller to control the system in familiar style, its functions can also be selected and activated by touching the screen’s surface.
Another new addition to the iDrive system’s functionality is BMW gesture control, which is being introduced for the first time. Hand movements detected by a 3D sensor control infotainment functions in an extremely intuitive and user-friendly fashion. The gestures can be used for a number of functions, including controlling the volume in audio applications and accepting or rejecting incoming telephone calls. There is also the option of pairing a specific gesture with an individual choice of function. Also joining the fray is a new smartphone holder integrated into the centre console, which allows wireless, inductive charging for mobile phones for the first time in a car.

The Executive Lounge Seating option increases comfort in the rear seat behind the front passenger seat, which can slide forward by an additional 90 millimetres and has an electrically extendable footrest integrated into its backrest. The rear passenger can unwind into an extremely relaxing position thanks to a backrest which can recline impressively close to the horizontal position.
The Executive Lounge rear console houses a fold-out table, additional cupholders and the Touch Command system. This removable 7-inch tablet computer allows the user to control the infotainment and comfort functions available in the rear of the new BMW 7 Series and can also be used to play back external audio and video files, as a games console or to surf the internet.

The exclusive ambience inside the new BMW 7 Series is also enhanced by a precisely arranged lighting design. The Ambient light option now includes the Welcome Light Carpet, which provides eye-catching illumination of the area around the car doors. Another unique feature is the Ambient highlight for the long-wheelbase versions of the new BMW 7 Series, which bathes the rear compartment in an atmospheric light from light sources positioned vertically on the B-pillars.
Another option customers can select to increase the feeling of well-being on board is the Ambient Air package, which ionises the air and generates a selection of eight aromas. Outstanding sound quality, meanwhile, is the speciality of the likewise newly developed Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system, which has been specifically tuned to the interior of the new BMW 7 Series.
