2020 Mercedes-Benz Concept GLB - Exterior Interior Design

exterior front design

Stuttgart/Shanghai. With the Concept GLB at Auto Shanghai (18 to 25 April 2019), Mercedes-Benz shows what SUV ideas on the company's compact car platform might also be realised alongside the GLA as a sporty all-rounder.

While the latter promises progressive driving enjoyment with its coupé-like lines, the Concept GLB places the emphasis on spaciousness and robustness.

exterior back design

The concept car (length/width/height: 4634/1890/1900[1] millimetres) has space for up to seven occupants thanks to its long wheelbase (2829 millimetres). A number of sturdy features signal that the Concept GLB feels right at home on rough farm tracks.

"We asked ourselves whether there is still space between the GLA and GLC in our successful SUV range. The Concept GLB is the answer to this question. With it we are demonstrating the creative ideas we have for this segment, too", says Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Sales.

interior cockpit design

"The Concept GLB is a durable and practical SUV with nonetheless compact dimensions. Whether it is a generous, seven-seater family vehicle or a versatile leisure time companion: we are certain that this concept will be of great interest to our customers.

" Customers highly appreciate the varied SUV portfolio of Mercedes-Benz. To date, more than six million customers worldwide have purchased a Mercedes-Benz SUV. In 2018, with more than 820,000 units sold, the SUVs were the strongest segment for Mercedes-Benz.

SUV genes skilfully brought to the fore: Exterior design

The Mercedes-Benz Concept GLB has a distinctive presence in the world of compact SUVs with its muscular proportions. The clear, surface-accentuated contours with reduced lines and precise joints convey effortless superiority and modernity.

The upright front section with its striking MULTIBEAM LED headlamps is clear evidence of off-road genes, as are the short overhangs at the front and rear.

The long wheelbase and the functional greenhouse are the decisive factors providing generous spaciousness for up to seven occupants.

The muscular and sensuously contoured vehicle shoulder dominates the side view, an effect reinforced by the rising waistline.

The contiguous doors improve ease of access and keep the door apertures free of soiling. All-round protective claddings divide the overall proportions and emphasise the vehicle's off-road character.

The harmonious colour concept has exterior paintwork in designo cashmere white magno with high-gloss black mounted parts (e.g. the claddings or integrated roof box) as a contrast, plus discreet orange highlights in the radiator grille and as lettering on the outside mirror housings.

The chrome underguard at the front with integral air inlets in a stainless steel look emphasises the off-road qualities. The rear underguard echoes this theme, creating a balanced overall picture.

exterior design

The style and value appeal of the V-Class lead the way in the segment. The designers in Stuttgart have used a series of targeted measures to give the MPV a new look which follows the design idiom of the current Mercedes-Benz passenger cars.

The new V-Class has a broader appearance and an even stronger visual presence thanks to its new front end.

This comes courtesy of a new bumper design with striking cooling air inlets and a new diamond structure in the radiator grille.

The Mercedes star is positioned centrally in the radiator grille and framed by two slats in silver.

interior cockpit design

The personalisation concept with the attractive AVANTGARDE and EXCLUSIVE lines and various design packages is retained, while the AMG Line becomes visually more striking with the facelift: it features a new diamond radiator grille with chrome pins, and thus delivers a particularly sporty note.

New paint colours in graphite grey metallic and selenite grey metallic expand the spectrum of popular black/white tones.

Equally new is the steel blue paint finish. With the new, optional colour hyacinth red metallic, the new V-Class also makes an especially emotive statement. At the same time, four new light-alloy wheel designs ensure a striking, avantgarde appearance. They include 5-twin-spoke 17-inch light-alloy wheels painted in black with a high-sheen finish as well as 18-inch light-alloy wheels in tremolite grey with a high-sheen finish and 5-twin-spoke design, or in black with a high-sheen finish and 5-spoke design. At the upper end of the new wheels portfolio are black-painted 19-inch 10-spoke light-alloy wheels with a high-sheen finish.

The interior of the new V-Class follows the trend of modernity and clarity.

The V-Class facelift presents itself with new air vents in a more sporty turbine look as well as new dials in the instrument cluster. Thanks to the reduced design, drivers can orientate themselves much more simply.

interior chicken design

The new upholstery and equipment colour tartufo nappa leather makes a modern and elegant statement. With Lugano leather and nappa leather, each available in black and silk beige, plus Santos black fabric, a total of six different upholsteries in light and dark colours is available.

Modern and elegant can also be used to describe the new trim element in twin-stripe look which is used on the instrument panel and side paneling. The trim elements in the piano lacquer, ebony wood, carbon fibre and brushed aluminium looks remain.

As part of the facelift, rear passengers can enjoy a special comfort feature. Optionally available luxury seats for the first rear row pamper occupants with reclining and back massage functions as well as air conditioning, as in the S-Class. A journey in the new V-Class – for instance if used as a VIP shuttle - thus turns into a spa like treatment.

New engine, new transmission – powerful and efficient

With the facelift, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class is equipped with the four-cylinder OM 654 diesel engine in three output variants:

V 220 d with 120 kW (163 hp) and 380 Nm of torque (combined fuel consumption 6.2-6.0 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 162-157 g/km)1
V 250 d with 140 kW (190 hp) and 440 Nm of torque (combined fuel consumption 6.1-5.9 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 161-155 g/km)1
And – as the new top performer in the segment – the V 300 d with 176 kW (239 hp) and 500 Nm of torque (combined fuel consumption 6.1-5.9 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 161-155 g/km)1
In the acceleration phase, the V 300 d can briefly deliver an additional 30 Nm of torque ("overtorque") in addition to its 500 Nm of torque. The V 300 d accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in up to 7.9 seconds. It can reach a top speed of 220 km/h.

exterior design

Five years ago, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class set standards in the MPV segment with its design, value appeal, comfort as well as safety and assistance systems.

The facelift builds upon these core values and thus enhances the attractiveness of the biggest member of the Stuttgart-based passenger car family.

The compact Marco Polo and Marco Polo HORIZON camper and leisure vans also benefit from the innovations implemented in the V-Class.

What's more, Mercedes-Benz Vans is taking the next step in this segment and will be offering a fully-electric MPV in the near future.

2020 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLA 35 4MATIC - Exterior Interior Design

Exterior Yellow Design

The new Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 4MATIC: When iconic design meets strength and intelligence "With its iconic design and agile driving dynamics, the new CLA 35 is an attractive offer for a young, active and lifestyle-conscious target group.

These customers define their requirements very clearly: They expect exciting design from their vehicle alongside superior performance and inspiring handling characteristics.

Interior Design

The new CLA 35 embodies just this attitude to life – and enables stepping in to the fascinating world of AMG Driving Performance in a particularly emotional way", says Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

Icon with a slim sporty waistline: the exterior design

The iconic design of the CLA Coupé is one of the main reasons for purchasing the car. The AMG designers therefore more or less kept the basic form with wide wheel arches and a slim sporty waistline. The two powerdomes on the bonnet were also adopted as sporty details.

Mercedes-Benz Engine

By way of contrast, the new radiator grille with the classic twin louvres and the AMG Line front apron with flics on the air inlets are typical distinctive features of the CLA 35 4MATIC.

Other distinctive features include trim elements in silver chrome on the louvres in the outer air inlets. From a side view, the aerodynamically optimised 18-inch light-alloy wheels in twin-spoke design (19-inch optionally available) and the accentuated side sill panels catch the eye.

The rear view is dominated by the rear apron with a new diffuser insert, the small spoiler lip on the boot and the two round tailpipe trims on the left and right. The two-piece, narrow tail lamps and the number plate housed in the bumper make the rear of the CLA look especially wide.

Sporty interior with MBUX infotainment system

Frameless doors open to an interior with a high-tech ambience where quality and elegance meet fully digital displays. This interior optionally stages the ambient lighting in 64 colours.

Another characteristic feature are the seat covers which are available in ARTICO man-made leather with DINAMICA microfibre in black with red contrasting stitching and red seat belts or in ARTICO mad-made leather in black/digital grey.

Red piping on the microfibre DINAMICA trim element and ventilation nozzles with a red ring add further accents.

Combined fuel consumption 7.3-7.2 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 167-164 g/km*
Affalterbach. Sporty, stylish, intelligent and dynamic: The new CLA 35 4MATIC (combined fuel consumption 7.3-7.2 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions 167-164 g/km)[1] is the latest point of entry to the world of Mercedes-AMG and is more strongly lifestyle-oriented.

The four-door coupé shares the progressive technology with the A-Class produced in Affalterbach, but is even bolder with its iconic design and the intelligent MBUX interior assistant.

The agile high torque 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine delivers 225 kW (306 hp), which is variably distributed to all four wheels via the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and the all-wheel drive.

The sporty driving performance (acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds) is linked with a wide spread of the driving experience - from very sporty to comfortable on long journeys.

blue magno exterior

"The AMG GT embodies the core of our brand, "Driving Performance", in a unique way. At its debut in September 2014, it not only turned the heads of customers and sports car enthusiasts, but also created new dimensions in the competitive environment.

In order to continue this success story we have now equipped the two-door models with numerous innovations from the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé", says Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Management Board of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

blue magno interior

The basic layout of the AMG GT portfolio with its front mid-engine concept and transmission in transaxle configuration at the rear axle enables an advantageous slightly rear-biased weight distribution.

In conjunction with the vehicle's low centre of gravity, this translates into extremely agile handling and permits high cornering speeds.

The AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine delivers ample power right from the low rev range and enables outstanding performance.

At the same time, the two-seater is a straightforward, comfortable and reliable companion for everyday motoring thanks to its easily accessible luggage compartment, a high level of comfort on long journeys and the extensive Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive assistance systems.

Affalterbach. The AMG GT high-peformance sports car (fuel consumption combined 12.5-11.4 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined 284-261 g/km) is now vying for customers' attention with lots of sharper details and the new, limited Edition AMG GT R PRO.

The two-door AMG GT Coupés and Roadsters are bestowed not only with updates on the exterior but also the integrated dynamic control system AMG DYNAMICS for even more agility, the new AMG Performance steering wheel, a centre console with innovative display buttons and a fully digital Instrument Display with AMG-specific display styles and content.
