Eurocopter's EC175 -- which opens new standards for the medium-sized twin-engine helicopter market segment -- has achieved two time-to-climb records, further validating its performance as the rotorcraft's flight manual is submitted to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) as part of the certification process.

Eurocopter's two records for the EC175, which have been ratified by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, are: time-to-climb to an altitude of 6,000 meters, performed in 6 minutes, 54 seconds; and time-to-climb to 3,000 meters, achieved in 3 minutes 10 seconds.

Following the devastating damage caused by Typhoon Haiyan, British Airways provided aid agencies with a relief aircraft to fly emergency aid and supplies to the Philippines.

A Boeing 747 freighter with capacity for up to 120 tonnes of cargo left Stansted at 04.13am on Monday, November 18.

The cargo flight carried much-needed aid from Oxfam, Save the Children, The Reina Sofia Foundation and UNICEF to provide relief to the worst affected regions of the Philippines in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan, which has devastated parts of the archipelago, leaving thousands dead and millions more affected by one of the most powerful storms ever recorded.

The British Airways Boeing 747 freighter aircraft departed from IAG Cargo's base at Stansted loaded with supplies from Oxfam, Save the Children and The Reina Sofia Foundation. It flew to Billund in Denmark where supplies from UNICEF were loaded onto the aircraft, and then collected further supplies from Sharjah in the UAE, before continuing to its final destination of Cebu in the Philippines.

As a result of Comic Relief agreeing to suspend collections for Flying Start to support the devastating situation, from December 9 to December 31 2013, customers on all British Airways flights will be invited to make donations and give spare change, the money will be given to the Disaster Emergencies Committee.
