Natural and completely multimodal interaction with the vehicle and its surroundings. BMW Group offers BMW Natural Interaction for the first time at the 2019 World Mobile Congress.
Once again, the BMW Group is revolutionizing how drivers interact with their vehicles: At the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona from 25 to 28 February 2019, the company will present its BMW Natural Interaction.
The new system combines the most advanced voice command technology available with extended motion control and view recognition to provide true multimodal operation for the first time.
As with interpersonal dialogue, BMW Natural Interaction enables the driver to use their voices, gestures and interact with their vehicles in various combinations at the same time.
The preferred mode of operation can be selected intuitively according to the situation and the content. Voice commands, movements, and viewing direction can be safely detected, combined and performed by the vehicle.
This free, multi-modal interaction is made possible by speech recognition, optimized sensor technology and content-sensitive analysis of movements. Due to the precise detection of hand and finger movements, the movement direction - in addition to the movement type - is also recorded for the first time in an extended interaction area that encompasses the entire operating environment of the drive.
Verbal instructions are recorded and processed using Natural Language Understanding. A constantly diluting intelligent learning algorithm interprets complex information, so the tool responds accordingly. This creates a multimodal interactive experience for the driver's wishes.
