2019 BMW X5 M50d - Ultimate Sports SUV interior exterior design

2019 BMW X5 M50d - Ultimate Sports SUV Arguably, one of the best new BMW X5s you can buy this year is the all-new BMW X5 M50d. One of the two models built under the M Performance Automobile division – the other being the future M50i – the M50d is powered by a quad-turbocharged 3.0 liter inline-six diesel, packing 400 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque. It will be able to get from 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds, which is only a couple of tics behind the BMW X3 M40i, despite being quite a lot heavier.

2019 BMW X5 M50d - Ultimate Sports SUV

These figures are possible thanks to a multi-stage turbocharging system composed of two high-pressure and two low-pressure turbochargers delivering over 450Nm of torque. In normal driving situations, both low-pressure turbochargers and one of the two high-pressure units are permanently active. The second high-pressure turbocharger only joins in when the engine speed tops 2,500rpm.

Ultimate Sports SUV

Under hard acceleration from idle, flaps are adjusted so the pair of low-pressure turbochargers can be swiftly bypassed, thereby generating maximum charge pressure with even less delay. To boost the turbocharging system’s efficiency, exhaust gas recirculation is employed for both the high-pressure and low-pressure stages and the common-rail direct injection system capable of generating pressures in excess of 2,500 bar. The new BMW X5 M50d has a combined fuel consumption of 41.5mpg and CO2 emissions of 179g/km.

Ultimate Sports SUV

All X5 engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive as standard. The BMW X5 M50d’s xDrive all-wheel drive system is very rear-biased under normal conditions, to allow the X5 to feel a bit sportier and more agile.

Ultimate Sports SUV

Standard specification for the new BMW X5 M50d includes model-specific kinematics and elastokinematics for the wheel suspension, individual spring and damper tuning, plus 22-inch M light-alloy wheels. This bespoke configuration increases the BMW M Performance model’s agility and steering precision, enables faster cornering and optimises its transitional responses.

For now, BMW has yet to make a decision on whether the M50d will arrive in America, but most of the rest of the world will get to enjoy this marvelous piece of tech.

2017 Audi Q5 - Interior exterior design and vehicle features

2017 Model Audi Q5 Information on interior exterior design introductory videos and detailed vehicle features. The new Audi Q5 improves an already competent package with sharper looks and new tech but can it beat the Jaguar F-Pace?

vehicle features

Verdict (4 Star)

The new Q5 is strong enough in lots of key areas to be an even stronger contender in the hotly contested premium SUV class. It’s still not as involving as an X3 or an F-Pace, but it is an accomplished cruiser with a nicely finished cabin, and practical enough for most needs. We’ll hold off on a full five stars until we get full specs, including the crucial CO2 figures - but this is a very complete package, if a slightly predictable one.

vehicle features

The Audi Q5 has been one of the German brand’s best-selling models since it launched back in 2008. Now it’s getting an all-new generation - and Auto Express has driven a very late prototype as senior engineers gave the car the green light for production.

vehicle features

Due on sale at the start of 2017, with deliveries due from April, the new Q5 sits on a shortened version of the MLB Evo platform that underpins the latest Q7, and gets many of the same benefits. Chief among these is a loss of around 90kg compared with the car it replaces, helping engineers to deliver improved fuel efficiency and lower CO2 figures

vehicle features

This is all the more impressive given that the Q5 grows for its new generation; it’s now 4.66m long, 1.89m wide and 1.66m tall, so longer and a little taller than the car it replaces. Most significantly of all, its wheelbase grows by almost 20mm, to 2.82m; this is designed to bring real benefits in cabin space, particularly for rear-seat passengers.

The boot also grows, though; the rear seats can move fore and aft, and the angle of the seat backs can be changed, to prioritise load space or rear legroom, but the capacity ranges from 550 litres to 610 litres - a gain of around 10 litres over the old model. Fold the split rear seats down and this space grows to 1,550 litres. As with Mercedes’ GLC, a powered tailgate comes as standard across the range; Audi will also offer the ability to open the boot by waving a foot below the rear bumper, albeit as an option.

vehicle features

Inside, the fascia has the latest Audi family look. The centre of the dashboard is dominated by a ’floating’ infotainment display, controlled as usual by Audi’s MMI dial between the front seats. The optional top spec system increases the screen size to 8.3 inches and incorporates a touchpad into the rotary button to allow handwriting gestures.

Audi’s Virtual Cockpit is also offered; it replaces the instrument display with a single 12.3-inch screen, and as usual, the driver can flick between a regular layout - with large dials for speed and revs - and one that shrinks those elements to prioritise the navigation map instead.

Three engines will eventually be offered on the Q5 in the UK - though only two will be available at launch. The mainstay of the range will be a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine producing 188bhp and 400Nm of torque.

2017 Audi Q8 Concept Driver and Interior Exterior Design

2017 Audi Q8 Concept - Perfect Coupe!! Introductory video describing vehicle driving test, interior design and detailed features

 Interior Exterior Design
Full-size SUV in coupe design: 2017 Audi Q8 concept Luxury seating for four, new control concept with large touchscreens Plug-in hybrid with 330 kW system output and 700 Nm (516.3 lb-ft) of torque Production model based on concept to launch in 2018

Dynamic, highly efficient and extremely comfortable: Audi presents the Audi Q8 concept at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) 2017. With this model the premium manufacturer is tapping into a new segment for the full-size class – an elegant alternative to the robust presence of a classic sport utility vehicle. The Q8 concept stands for maximum prestige. It combines the spaciousness of an SUV with the emotional lines of a coupe. Propulsion is provided by a powerful, yet highly efficient plug-in hybrid with 330 kW of system output and 700 Nm (516.3 lb-ft) of torque. The concept car is the basis for a production model that Audi will launch on the market in 2018.
Interior Exterior Design
At 5.02 meters (16.5 ft) long, the Audi Q8 concept is an impressive presence in the full-size class. Thanks to a wheelbase of three meters (9.8 ft), the show car offers plenty of space for passengers and luggage. Despite the sloping, coupe-like roofline, even the rear-seat passengers enjoy ample head and shoulder room. The control concept uses large touchscreens in the cockpit and is rounded out by an expanded version of the Audi virtual cockpit and a contact-analogue head-up display. The latter uses intelligent augmented reality technology that merges the real and the virtual worlds.

“The Q8 concept is an Audi in peak form. It demonstrates the strengths of our brand in both technology and design while providing a glimpse at a future full-size, production SUV,” said Dietmar Voggenreiter, Member of the Board of Management for Sales and Marketing at AUDI AG. “With its next-generation display and control solutions, we are enabling customers to experience connectivity in a whole new way.”
Interior Exterior Design

Dynamic lines and digital Matrix laser technology: the front end

The front view of the 2.04-meter-wide (6.7 ft) Audi Q8 concept is already impressive. The distinguishing feature here is the octagonal Singleframe with honeycomb insert. It is sculpted and significantly wider than in today’s Audi production models. Six upright double bars structure the radiator grille while simultaneously emphasizing its height. A mask painted in a contrasting color frames the grille. The outer air inlets have a deep and dynamic appearance like the intakes of a turbine. A distinctive aluminum blade forms the bottom edge of the bumper.
Interior Exterior Design
The flat, wedge-shaped headlights of the Audi Q8 concept are integrated progressively into the exterior and connected from a design perspective to the surrounding air inlets. The individual lighting units have glass covers, but the headlights as a whole are open. This creates the impression that they are free in space. The aluminum housing for the headlights carries over the sculpture of the Singleframe. The clear geometry gives the Audi Q8 concept a determined look. An x-shaped, blue laser light signature highlights the digital Matrix laser technology used for the low and high beams. Broken down into more than one million pixels, their light can illuminate the road in high resolution and with precise control. Located below the edge of the engine hood is a narrow LED light guide that emits the light for the dynamic turn signals and the daytime running lights. It wraps around the outside of the headlights, where its ribs create an innovative e-tron signature. All lighting functions are dynamic.
Interior Exterior Design

Athletic and powerful: the side view

The silouhette of the Audi concept car also evokes tautness. The doors do not have window frames, thus contributing to the flat roofline. The Audi Q8 concept is 1.70 meters (5.6 ft) tall. All lines on the body climb upward dynamically toward the rear – the bottom edge of the side window, the shoulders, the dynamic line and the sill lines. The surfaces of the fenders, doors and side panels are athletically curved. The lower section of the doors form a deep fillet. Other design features are the quattro logo milled below the rear doors and also the exterior mirrors with their multifaceted edges. The doors are opened via touch sensors. As soon as the door detects hand contact, it opens easily and swings to a defined opening angle.

2017 Porsche Panamera - interior Exterior and Drive

New Porsche Panamera 2017 preview – an in-depth look at the new super saloon. New Panamera features sharp new look inside and out, and more powerful engines

interior Exterior and Drive

Porsche has revealed its all-new Panamera four-door super saloon, with a refreshed new look, a tech-laden interior and new, more powerful turbocharged engines fitted with a new eight-speed PDK transmission. Oh, and a 7min 38sec Nürburgring lap time, two-seconds quicker than a 997.1 GT3. Available to order now, the new Panamera will go on sale this autumn.
The new Panamera will initially be available with three engines consisting of two Porsche designed and developed turbocharged petrol engines – a 2.9-litre V6 and a 4.0-litre V8 – and an Audi sourced 4.2-litre V8 twin-turbo diesel. A plug-in hybrid will also join the line-up early next year.

Fitted to all three engines will be a new eight-speed PDK transmission replacing the current seven-speed double-clutch gearbox, and from launch all Panameras, including the diesel, will only be offered with four-wheel drive, with rear-wheel drive variants scheduled for launch later in the year.
As well as more power, new engines and a new gearbox the 2017 Panamera also gets a new platform and look. Sharper than its predecessor, Porsche’s designers have worked hard to eliminate some the dumpiness that hampered the car’s look in the past.
 interior Exterior and Drive

2017 Porsche Panamera Body and Design

The new Panamera is 35mm longer at 5050mm, thanks in part to a wheelbase that has increased in length by 30mm to 2950mm. The new car is also 5mm wider at 1935mm and 5mm taller at 1423mm, although the rear roofline is 20mm lower to retain Porsche-like coupe look.
There are new bumpers, side sills, wings, roof, bonnet, rear hatch and the retractable rear spoiler is larger on both S and Turbo models. The Panamera also features a 911-esque LED light strip running between its taillights and LED matrix from headlights featuring 48 individual LEDs.

Every external body panel is made from aluminium with the single piece side wall of the car hemmed to the steel shell, a first of its kind in the automotive sector. It will be built, in its entirety including the manufacturer of the body panels and shell at Porsche’s Leipzig factory.

This new Panamera platform is a fully modular, using the VAG pioneered MSB platform, with a long wheelbase model scheduled for launch in early 2017 and a further four applications in the pipeline including a sporting brake and a coupe-SUV. The next generation Bentley Continental GT and Flying Spur and Audi A8 will also utilise the Panamera’s platform.

The body-in-white of the new car weighs 335kg, and went a long way to contribute to the 70kg overall weight saving Porsche’s engineers had to find to compensate for the additional weight the car’s new technology has resulted in.

Active aerodynamics play a significant role in the Panamera’s new found efficiency, with active planes incorporated behind the front bumper to either close and prevent airflow into the engine to reduce drag, or open when required to cool the engine. Airflow has also been optimised under the car and the Turbo’s active rear wing has two settings, one specifically to maximise economy the other to reduce lift and increase aero performance at higher speeds.
 interior Exterior and Drive

2017 Porsche Panamera Interior and Technology

Inside the new Panamera is where you will recognise the biggest with clearly recognisable design elements first seen on the 918 Spyder with what Porsche calls Porsche Advanced Cockpit.

All the tradition hard buttons have been replaced with touch sensitive ‘buttons’ on a glass-like surface or migrated to the central 12.5-inch touchscreen. The temperature control buttons for the climate control are a solid knurled aluminium effect rocker switch, the vents are controlled via the touchscreen and the controls for the PSM, PASM and sports exhaust still have their own easy to find, single use button. They may have the appearance of being touch buttons, but these dynamic switches operate by your finger depressing and vibrating when the required action has been completed.

Within the 12.5-inch main screen is every control function for the car, even those with individual switches elsewhere in the cabin. The main screen can be split 30/70 and configured how you wish allowing you to operate music, sat-nav, telephone, car and climate settings accordingly.

2018 Mercedes AMG GT-R 585 hp Interior exterior design and Vehicle features

2018 Mercedes AMG GT-R 585 hp Detailed introduction video about internal interior design and vehicle features

Vehicle features

There is understeer. There is oversteer. And then there's a four-wheel slide through an unavoidable spackle of rubber marbles that have built up through a fast, prolonged sweeper. A highlight reel of every other Indy 500 crash zips through my brain, as driver after driver goes off line, catches the marbles, and sails into the crunchy confines of the Safer Barrier.

But then, there is an awful lot to be said for downforce. For, even as its otherwise sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires struggle with the marbles, the 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R continues to tenaciously hold itself to Portugal's Autodromo Internacional do Algarve. The GT R isn't just an extra stein of power poured into the regular GT with some bigger, pricier brakes thrown on for good measure. That was largely the AMG M.O. of yesteryear. And, okay, it still has those, but with the R, you get extra vents, foils, ducts, and diffusers that all contribute to keeping the ultimate AMG GT adhered to Portugal through that grand corner. And, quite ideally, most of them are hidden away, preventing one of the most beautiful cars in the world from becoming an overwrought track-day special.

GT-R 585 hp

Those parts also provide plenty of faith to progressively feed in throttle as that long, final sweeper unwinds into Algarve's main straight as marbles kicked up from the car ahead pang, pang, pang off the GT R's long, long hood. The lateral G's first press me into the prominent bolsters of the optional AMG race seats and then into their thin backs. It's invigorating, but then comes the deep, guttural, nasty bellow of the hand-built 4.0-liter V8 massaged up to 585 horsepower courtesy new turbochargers with a higher boost pressure, plus a modified compression ratio, sharpened throttle mapping, and a modified exhaust (including an additional, center-mount port). Mercedes says the entire combustion process has been retuned and the grand total is 82 more horsepower than in the AMG GT S.

Vehicle features

Yet, the resulting acceleration advantage isn't just a matter of extra power (the 0–60 run is estimated at 3.5 seconds versus 3.7 of the GT S). Few areas of the GT R have avoided the weightsaver's scalpel. This includes the wider front fenders, roof, torque tube, drive shaft, and multiple structural braces made of carbon fiber, plus forged wheels and composite materials taking the place of several metal parts. Mercedes had most of these components on hand at Algarve to let us hoist them ourselves, and the weight difference is obvious – lifting the nine-pound driveshaft makes you look like The Rock – and it's easy to see how all of it together shaves off about 200 pounds versus the GT S's curb weight.

A further 37 pounds can be cut by opting for the carbon-ceramic disc brakes, which provide fade-free, mammoth stopping power as the main straight dips downhill before leading into a sharp right turn. They are the definition of confidence-inspiring despite the very-Mercedes low-effort pedal that makes for perfectly pleasant real-world driving.

Vehicle features

Really, though, it's the gentlemen in lab coats manning the wind machine that have made the biggest difference. It all begins up front. Those 15 chrome slats that boldly differentiate the R from its GT siblings and evoke the original 1950s SL race cars actually disguise the fact the grille has been tilted forward for improved aerodynamics. Beneath it is the "active air management system," or a wide box filled with vertical slats. They automatically open when additional cooling is needed, but mostly stay closed to reduce drag and direct air down under the car to the next bit of engineering wizardry: the exclusive new active aerodynamics profile.

Vehicle features

When the car is in Race mode at speeds higher than 50 mph, a carbon-fiber blade lowers by 1.6 inches and significantly changes airflow. This reduces front-axle lift by essentially sucking the car to the ground and leads to improved high-speed steering and stability. There wasn't a GT S on hand to compare to this improved bit, but there certainly is never a reduction in confidence from the GT R's steering, which lets you sharply and fluidly turn into corners. But more on that shortly.

As the air moves under the GT R, it's channeled to the special rear diffuser or up to the air outlet between the taillights (shared with the one-rung-lower GT C). These help the rear of the car remain planted, as does the carbon-fiber wing that can be manually adjusted to match the downforce requirements of a particular track or drive (an electric adjustment would've added weight).
